Now we're cooking
I've gone and done it. I've spent 200 dollars buying several cookbooks. After spending all that money, I've decided that cooking will be my new hobby since video games aren't so productive and poker has become a job.
After much research, I've decided on the following books (I already have the Joy of Cooking):
The Professional Chef - A bible, like The Joy of cooking. It's a mammoth textbook that covers the culinary arts.
Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking - Two Marcella Hazan Italian cooking books combined into one. She is responsible for bringing great italian cooking into the American kitchen.
Complete Book of Mexican Cooking - I really don't know much else besides tacos and burritos, but I do very much like tacos and burritos.
Think Like a Chef - A top chef writing about the principles behind cooking, so that you can creatively make dishes and not follow strict recipes.
How To Cook Everything : Simple Recipes for Great Food - Food editor for the NY Times.
Chinese Cooking Made Easy - Small little book with a lot of recipes.
The Chinese Kitchen: Recipes, Techniques, Ingredients, History, and Memories from America's Leading Authority on Chinese Cooking - Textbook for Chinese food.
The one book that I reluctantly dropped but may get in the future was one on Japanese cooking.
